Mini Vinnies

Who are the Mini Vinnies?

Mini Vinnies follow in the footsteps of Christ and St Vincent de Paul.

The Mini Vinnies are the youngest members of the St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP), an international Christian voluntary organisation dedicated to tackling poverty in all its forms by providing practical assistance to people in need.

The Mini Vinnies get together to live out their mission of see, think, do, supporting their school community and beyond alongside the SVP.

Year 4 are our Mini Vinnies and turn concern into action by…

  • Praying for those in need

  • Making cards for those who may be sick, isolated or lonely

  • Visiting local care homes to sing and share stories with residents

  • Taking part in arts and crafts to share with others

  • Organising food collections for the Andover food bank

  • Raising money for local homeless charities by sleeping rough in the school hall.

Prayer Leaders

“For where two or three come together in my name, I am there with them.”

Matthew 18:20

Prayer Leaders are chosen from each class, working alongside teachers to plan and lead celebrations of the word.  Their roles follow our school's progression planning when considering how to develop the skills of our children from Year R through to Year 6.

Prayer Leaders use the liturgical year and the principles of Catholic Social Teaching when planning.  They ask for feedback from the children to help them identify what worked well and what can be improved.

RE Ambassadors

When the children reach Year 6, they apply to become a subject ambassador.  Subject ambassadors are chosen for their love of the subject they lead as they are required to visit the lessons of other classes, promoting the enjoyment of learning and supporting the teacher's who lead each area of the curriculum.

Our RE ambassadors support the children with their RE learning throughout the year and contribute to prayer and liturgy by writing and leading prayers.
